Investment Readiness: Preparing for the First Round

Going for your first round of investment can be daunting. Your mind may be racing with questions like, “Where do I start?” “How much do I ask for?” “Who am I pitching?” “WHAT am I pitching?” “How do I find an investor that feels like a true partner?”

For those who have businesses with social and/or environmental impact at its core, you may have considered impact investment, but don’t really know where to begin or what organizations to work with.

This workshop will focus on your pitch deck, not necessarily to make a pretty pitch deck (although we can do that too!), but because a good pitch deck answers every essential question about your business–from your sales strategy, to your projections, customer profiles, and valuation. Before you step foot in front of an investor, there are some essential questions that you need to make sure you can answer with ease and confidence. And we will do a deep dive on each of these essential questions to make sure we are clear on your narrative, strategy, and goals going into this first round of investment.

On the other side of the workshop, you will have a skeleton of a pitch deck with detailed notes and guidance on how to develop, finalize, and polish your deck.

Workshop details:

  • Time commitment: 4 hours (this can be done in one go, or broken down into two two-hour sessions)

  • Workshop cost: $1,300 + HST

  • What you’ll walk away with: 1) Recording of the workshop; 2) Investment readiness workbook, including detailed notes on strategy and direction for each slide of your pitch deck; 3) Summary of recommended next steps

Trade Diversification: Demystifying Emerging Markets

Global trade has never been in a more precarious position. So why would you want to trade outside of your borders? A natural reaction is to turn inwards. And for some businesses, that works (and is far more sustainable!). But for others, global trade is necessary to develop cost competitive, high quality, and innovative products and services. When you hear the term “global trade”, many think of the usual suspects, namely Europe. But what about Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia? These regions have been historically seen as high risk, due to several political, economic, and social factors throughout their modern history. But the reality is that in today’s trade environment, these markets are the most promising and innovative–and through meaningful business partnerships, can fuel rapid growth while mitigating risk.

This workshop will focus on building a trade diversification strategy for your organization, honing in on the opportunities for your sector in key markets across Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia. We’ll provide an overview of the key opportunities and risks, as well as the tangible partnership opportunities to establish your presence in each market.

On the other side of the workshop, you will have a clear assessment of the top 2-3 markets to pursue with tangible next steps as to how to make it happen.

Workshop details:

  • 2 hours

  • Workshop cost: $650 + HST

  • What you’ll walk away with: 1) Recording of the workshop; 2) Trade diversification workbook, including detailed notes on key markets, partnership strategies, risks, and research priorities; 3) Summary of recommended next steps, including links to key resources and contacts
